Rose Philippine Duchesne survived the French Revolution and then returned to religious life in pursuit of her dream to be a missionary to natives in the New World. She finally made it to America, but it wasn’t until she was over 70 that she finally worked directly with natives. But by that point she was unable to learn the language, and spent her final years mostly in the chapel in prayer.
